Client: Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)

This project is constructing a 1.5-mile auxiliary lane on southbound I-95 from Gordon Boulevard (Route 123) to the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) on an accelerated design and approval schedule to provide needed traffic relief.

During the December 2019 design public hearing, the project team included interactive stations where attendees could experience a fly-thru of the proposed design and a driving simulator demonstration. The 3D flyover and virtual reality experience allowed participants to better understand the design of the future auxiliary lane. It also offered adjacent property owners and residents the opportunity to visualize the minimal impact the project would have near their homes.
